Everyone’s killed a plant, and I’m no different! Now I can have the rare plants of my dreams by combining my passions for plants and crafting ✍🏼✂️🪴
I collect plants, sometimes quite rare ones too… and I kill them!
Not intentionally of course, and not all of them - but it happens to the best of us and over time I’ve learned not to stress about it.
Until a few years ago I was definitely one of those people who could not keep a plant alive. I wanted something big, full and green to fill a space in my living room so I thought I’d get a palm - they didn’t seem like too much trouble. But then I stumbled across a plant wall on Pinterest and thought wow - I need that! Before I knew it I had 5 big shelves full to the brim with plants and I was hooked. That was 3 years ago and I now have over 100 houseplants which have taken over the place!
I did a lot of research on how to keep these things alive and I definitely haven’t mastered it yet. Some thrive, some just survive - and some have kicked the bucket! There are a few that I refused to be beaten by so bought the same plant again - and killed it again.
With this risky strategy of plant roulette, and the fact that I was quickly running out of room, over the last 2 years I’ve had to put myself on a number of self imposed plant bans!
I’ve been crafting as long as I can remember. As a child, mum and I used to make so much together - from crackers at Christmas, to hollowed, painted and beaded eggs at Easter, marzipan fruits, polymer clay miniatures, cross-stitch… all sorts. I have continued crafting over the years, but in 2020 when the pandemic hit and like many I was home alone for many months and I turned straight back to crafting. I made anything I could get my hands on (that could be delivered by post!), and the bug was back.
With the need to create burning strong, I decided to try something new. I desperately wanted to try and combine my passion for plants with craft, and see if I could build a business from it - and tiny paper plants was the result!
Finally I can have the rare plants of my dreams without the risk of killing them by just looking at them! And it brings me such joy to make these for people and to see them in their homes. I just wish I’d done it years ago.
I hope you find something you like in my shop, and if you have any special requests I like a challenge so please be sure to get in touch. You can see lots of behind the scenes content over on my Instagram and TikTok pages - @nicolesjungle.
Finally, if like me you’ve killed a plant (or 10) - don’t worry. I follow a LOT of plant people - and they all kill plants!
Thanks for getting to know me a bit better. Much love, Nicole xoxo
